A Liberal Government will introduce a 10-year moratorium on fracking in South Australia’s Limestone Coast region.

A Liberal Government will introduce a 10-year moratorium on fracking in South Australia’s Limestone Coast region.

Hydraulic fracture stimulation, commonly referred to as fracking, is another term for unconventional gas mining and many people are concerned about the ability for this extraction method to be performed safely.

With the internationally renowned Coonawarra wine district relying on its clean, green reputation and many other agricultural activities occurring in the region, we cannot risk anything tainting the region’s pristine water resources, something which has not yet been guaranteed by those advocating fracking.

The Limestone Coast region depends on the ongoing quality of its groundwater resources. A State Liberal Government will protect these resources to ensure jobs and industries can continue to grow.
