Community Business Directory

One of the pressing needs in our local community and one of my priorities is to support small business to grow and create jobs. I want to do this in a practical and tangible way, hence the idea of launching a shop local campaign.

One of the pressing needs in our local community and one of my priorities is to support small business to grow and create jobs. I want to do this in a practical and tangible way, hence the idea of launching a shop local campaign.

I want to use my position in our community to encourage people to shop local and to facilitate them to do so. I want shopping local to be easy, accessible and attractive and I believe that most people want to shop local, they just don’t necessarily have the resources to do so.

The community business directory will be an easy-to-read booklet that includes businesses from Hallett Cove through to Somerton Park and which will be distributed to 13,000 households in the area. It will also be placed on my website.

I hope you will join me as we sell local, buy local and, ultimately, be local.

Economic growth * Local job creation * Environmental benefits

This directory will be self-funding and no public funds will be used in its printing or distribution. As such, there will be a small fee to have your business included, which will cover costs.

It will require a minimum of 100 interested local businesses to go ahead.
