Providing our seniors with the support they deserve

Seniors have given so much to our community over many years and, as they age, they must be given the support and respect they deserve. I will work to support older people to stay in the workforce, to volunteer, to have access to the services they need and to stay connected to their communities.

My commitment to seniors includes:

  • hosting four quarterly seniors forums covering topics such as Retirement Village Living; Dementia Friendly Communities; Advance Care Directives and Healthy Lifestyles
  • making representations in Parliament regarding council rates, the increased Emergency Services Levy and other pressures facing pensioners and retirees
  • committing to blocking the government’s controversial cuts to the pensioners’ rates concession
  • fighting to save the Repatriation General Hospital.

Beach for all

Our beaches are beautiful and I can't imagine not being able to walk across the sand to dip my toes in the water, have a paddle or swim. Yet too many people in our community can't reach the water's edge due to their physical health holding them back. Beaches aren't the friendliest places for wheelchairs and crossing sand can also be difficult for people using walking sticks and frames.
