Supporting small business to get off the ground, grow and create jobs

Small businesses are the foundation of our economy, creating jobs and sustaining prosperity.

This year my work has included:

  • surveying all businesses in the electorate to understand what they want from their local Member of Parliament
  • successfully fighting to have the operating hours of the Brighton Road bike lane reduced to between 7.00 am and 9.00 am (as opposed to 7.00 am until 10.00 am) and again from 4.00 pm to 7.00 pm (instead of 3.00 pm – 7.00 pm), limiting its adverse impact on business
  • supporting state government legislation to reform the state’s WorkCover system (ensuring it passed through parliament in a single day!).
