The great cities of the world are often characterised by strong public transport systems. Our local transport network has many problems and the quality of our train system remains one of my biggest campaigns. I believe in making public transport a priority and will continue to fight for a modern, safe and reliable network.

This year my work has included:

  • staying in touch with the issues faced daily by commuters by using train travel as my mode of transport on parliamentary sitting days
  • ongoing campaign to reduce the noise pollution caused by train horns, one of the biggest quality of life issues raised with me in the last year
  • lobbying to make public transport more people friendly, including improving reliability and comfort
  • successfully fighting to save trees along the train corridor and ensuring that these corridors are re-vegetated and maintained.
